The Love of Nature

Landscape: A picture depicting an expanse of scenery.
Or definition #2
Landscape: a genre intended to show different spaces within the world, sometimes vast and unending,
but other times microscopic.

So which definition does one choose to photograph?  Why not both?  Well, I guess they are both depicted in one photo, but Adam told me he posted 2 so I thought I would post 2 as well.  While my photo isn't "microscopic", it is in "landscape form" and has landscape in it.

The first photo is pretty self explainitory.  I was driving around tonight in search of that perfect landscape photo.  I first stopped in the little town of Alto, and while I thought this might be fun, the photos didn't turn out how I had hoped.  So I decided to drive the country side a bit.  While going down one of the country roads I went by this field that had an old barn.  I turned around, pulled over to the side of the road and shot a few shots, not real happy I turned to go back to my car and then this view caught my eye.  So here we have the literal "landscape shot".

Now the second shot I have chosen has a bit of a story behind it.  Last weekend I went up to Mount Pleasant to visit Adam.  While there we decided to try out the Blue Gator Restaurant.  The good and bad thing about Mount Pleasant in the summer is that it is pretty much a ghost town, especially on the weekends.  So while we sat at the outdoor bar, we looked around and realized we were the only ones beside the wait staff.  Needless to say we had good service.  But anyway, lets get back on track.  While at this Restaurant I saw a beer called a Vanilla Java Porter.  I thought to myself...I like vanilla and I like coffee, why not try this beer.  And I am glad I did.  It was very yummy.  So tonight, when I stopped to get gas at the local gas station, I went inside to see if they happened to have just a single bottle of this beer.  Sure enough!  Now, I planned to just enjoy this at my leisure, but while I was driving home after my landscape hunt, I thought to myself...Why not shoot a "landscape style shot" with the landscape in the background of this very yummy beverage.  So that is how we got this 2nd photo a Landscape within the Landscape.

Local's Landscape

Earlier this week I had to go on a shoot at Mill Pond.  I didn't know what to expect when I arrived, I had to shoot video of a high school group taking water samples. It was a peaceful little area, the rippling water and the occasional bike or person walking by on the trails.  Little did I know that the locations is where the locals head to cool down.  I was quite shocked when I showed up later in the week in the evening to find all these people.  Well I had my camera, so I snapped some photos and was on my way, back to the AC.

And the Hat has spoken...

I'm excited to be able to write what our topic is this week.  The past several months Adam has taken over the task of sharing what our topic for the week is.  Today, I, Erica, am going to share with you what our task is for this week.  After coming home from a VERY charismatic church....an experience that both Adam and I feel we can check off our "bucket-list"....if you are curious about this you can ask one of us about it sometime...it's a good story :).  ANYWAY, when we got home, we sat and discussed wedding stuff for a bit and then Adam grabbed our favorite "Cat-in-the-hat" Hat.  I reached in and grabbed our topic for the week.  Adam was VERY excited that this week is something that will be "easy" with a lot of options.  Come back later and find out how we chose to photograph:

Seeing Eye

This week the topic was "eye".  One would think that I have the benefit on this topic being that I work for an eye doctor.  But I didn't take advantage of my office surroundings, but I did ask my co-worker to model for me after I did her hair.  So I ran upstairs, grabbed my makeup bag and did her eyes up.  When I put this topic in the hat I had a picture in my head of what I wanted to do, but my busy week didn't much allow for me to get the necessities for that idea.  So plan "b" it was, and while it isn't quite as dramatic as I would have liked, I still like how it turned out.  And if you look closely you can see me :)

They are looking at you...

This was an interesting one.  But these are the EYE(s) that look at me in my apartment.  I thought about what EYE I could take a photo of, my EYE, and EYE of a needle, I thought about drawing an EYE and photographing that, or I thought about seeing if I could find an EYE model.  Like the ones they have at EYE doctors, (but I figured Erica may do that).  So I was left sitting in my apartment thinking.  That is when I saw this image, and well the rest is...  Take a guess at who's eye's they are and you may win a prize.

The Hat says...

As the hat gives us topics, we post photos.  This weeks topic is EYE.  Don't forget to come back later this week to take a look at EYE.
