Smells Good

I have changed the way I live, I moved to Mt. Pleasant and my life has completely changed.  New job, new zip code, new schedule, new wardrobe too.   Few things have stayed the same thou, I still need to eat, and with that need comes cooking.  Now that I have a normal job I need to pass the time after work, so I cook.  It has turned into a passion, I like experimenting in the kitchen.  I have found the best part of cooking is eating!  The time and effort that goes into cooking the meal is rewarded with sitting on the couch and digging in.  And that is all I have to say about that, dinner is done and time to dig in.

To Praise the Lord

Again I need to thank Adam for this photo.  When we were talking about the topic Adam said he had an idea for my photo.  So of course I asked, and I really liked it. I think it is safe to say that anyone who knows me knows that I love to sing.  So it seems obvious that for a photo that is supposed to portray "passion" I should photograph myself singing.  The thing that I love most about singing is singing for worship.  I love being able to help others come into a place of communion with God.  So I feel this photo truly represents something I am very passionate about. (This should be "G" rated enough for you Mari) :)

And the topic is.....

It's that time again, for a topic to be picked from the hat.  This weekend Adam came back to Grand Rapids and was able to spend time with friends and family.  It was nice having him around.  But it's always hard to say goodbye.  Being that he has moved away, the "event" of picking a topic is a little different.  The hat is at his apartment, so last night when he got home, he picked a topic and text me.  So what is our topic this week?

PASSION
Stay tuned for what kind of photos we come up with to portray "passion".

Seeing Old

The reason I named this blog "Seeing Old" is because at work we have a box of discontinued frames.  They are very old glasses from years ago.  So if you see a frame that looks similar to the one you're wearing, you may want to think about getting a new pair of glasses. :)  And I do know a very talented and skilled optician that can assist you in updating your look.

It's still good

Two Photos for this guy.   I thought about OLD, thought about taking a photo of an old building or maybe an old person, but then I opened my truck and there it was, my old baseball mitt.  I am not sure when I got this mitt, long time ago.  I remember it was old when I used it when I was in 8th grade, so it is old.  I rarely play baseball now, but still use it when I do.  I play the occasional softball game, but the glove is not big enough to catch a ball.  It is OLD, but still cherished.

Sorry for the delay

This weeks topic is old...

The Lucky One

What do you write about dishware?  I eat off from it...it's pretty...I like them to match some how.  And there you have it.  I titled this "The Lucky One" because there's a red plate in the midst of the others, and well, I'm a red head and it's just lucky to be red. :)  That is my creative post for the week.  Enjoy!

Not Enough

So when I was packing up to move north, I packed up some plates and bowls.  I figured I was living by myself and wouldn't need that much stuff.  I was horribly wrong.  So what you are looking at is the clean DISHWARE I had in the cupboard.  A bunch of small plates and one bowl.  I added the fork for some flair.  I really wish I had something more to photograph, but I got boring stuff.  I actually thought about doing something like staking it all up or seeing if I could capture a plate or bowl falling, but I couldn't risk losing anything.

This week...

I reached into the hat this week and pulled out a slip of paper...It said DISHWARE.  I texted Erica and she replies the same way almost every time, "was that mine?"  Come back later to see how DISHWARE is captured.

With My hands out…

I pray for a blessing, I pray for guidance, I pray for strength, I pray for forgiveness,
I pray for peace, I pray for a light onto my path, I pray for grace, I pray for thanksgiving, I pray for wisdom,  I pray for me, I pray for Erica, I pray for you….I pray.

Psalm 66:19-20
But God has surely listened and has heard my prayer.  Praise be to God, who had not rejected my prayer or withheld his love for me!

Power of Prayer

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans
that words cannot express."
Romans 8:26

In my life I have definitely learned the importance of prayer.  I have seen how God answers prayer in ways I could never imagine.  And in those times when I can't find the words to say, I know that the Holy Spirit is speaking and groaning for me.  So when this topic came up I was excited because I had a pretty cool idea.  What I really wanted to do was photograph my pastor, but it didn't work with our schedules unfortunately, so tonight when I had practice with one Al Jansen, I asked him to do me a favor.  At first I think he was a little worried about what I wanted him to do, but he was a good sport.  And even though I told him I wouldn't photograph his face, I ended up doing it and really like the end result.  So thank you Al for being a good sport and an excellent model.  If there is anything I can leave with our faithful followers is to never forget the power of prayer.  Even when you don't know what to prayer, it's ok, there is the Holy Spirit to communicate with our Heavenly Father for us.  Never underestimate what God can and will do in your life through prayer.

Our First Topic in Different Places

This weeks topic, I think, is very fitting for all the changes that have been happening the past couple of weeks.  This will be our first topic that we are doing in different places in Michigan.  Last weekend we moved Adam to Mount Pleasant to start not only a new job, but a new "way of life".  It was difficult to say goodbye on Sunday night. I left for Grand Rapids, and he stayed at his new home in Mount Pleasant.  As I was driving home I got a text from Adam that said "Keep your eyes on the road and think about 'prayer'".  So that is how our topic this week came about.
PRAYER
Without prayer we would not be who we are and at the points in our lives that we are.  So I am curious to see how each of us photographs prayer.
